OUR APPROACH TO EFFECTIVE LEARNING

We give your child the tools to become confident and self-aware. In a caring and stimulating atmosphere, our passionate and engaging teachers give your child endless opportunities to grow, learn, and imagine—whether building a spaceship to blast off to Mars or inviting a new friend to share a story during group time!

While academics play a role in development, our belief is there are many other opportunities for enhancing the whole child. We recognize that curriculum is more than what appears in manuals or a series of activities. We believe curriculum is everything that happens in the classroom, from interactions and meals to singing and playing. We never miss an opportunity to educate.

ALL ABOUT BALANCE

Joyful Care Children's Academy teaches children life skills that go beyond reading, writing, and math.

  • Playing with toys helps develop motor skills and teaches lessons about sharing with friends.

  • Singing songs while washing hands instills an interest in the arts while forging social bonds and educating children about the need for good hygiene.

Each activity is designed with a specific lesson or outcome in mind.

We provide a balance between choice and structured activities, between the group and individual pursuits, and between teacher and child-directed experiences.

We teach seasonable relevant lessons. For example, children learn about spiders in spring and farming in fall. And, we give families the tools to continue their education at home.

Our Teachers

Teachers Are The Kids' Best Friends!

Joyful Care Children's Academy offers a lower staff-to-child ratio, which allows teachers to give individual attention to each child when preparing a  child care curriculum that meets each child’s specific developmental needs.

This ongoing daily assessment is an essential part of knowing the right type/quantity of activities that will encourage continual growth and learning.

We are Breastfeeding Friendly!

Mother Baby Bonding

  • We provide a breastfeeding-friendly environment. We invite mothers to come to the center and nurse their babies or express breastmilk at any time during the day, and there is a comfortable place for them to do so. We display culturally appropriate posters of mothers nursing their babies.

  • All breastfeeding families are able to properly store and label milk for childcare center use. There is always refrigerator space available for daily storage of breastmilk.  We do provider freezer storage for breastmilk.  We have written guidelines that we share with our families, and all milk at our center is properly labeled.

  • All new staff receives training in storage and handling of human milk, developmentally appropriate infant feeding practices, breastfeeding promotion and the support of exclusive breastfeeding.

  • We inform women and families about the importance of breastfeeding. We provide families with culturally appropriate information about the risks/ benefits of different feeding choices and about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding (no infant formula, water, juice or solid food is served.) We discuss breastfeeding with potential families and share breastfeeding materials and resources with our families.

  • We support breastfeeding employees. Employees have access to a clean, private location to nurse their babies or express milk and are able to break as needed to do so.

  • We develop a feeding plan that supports best feeding practices with each family and share a daily breastfeeding/infant feeding plan with our families.  We work with each family to encourage practices that will help maintain breastfeeding. This includes nursing on demand when with their babies, responding to feeding cues rather than feeding on a schedule, and the developmentally appropriate introduction of complementary foods.

Baby with Toys

Children this age are opening their eyes to the larger world around them and taking an active role in it.

They learn as they take things apart, put them together, and ask lots and lots of questions.

Therefore, we encourage our little ones to expand on their inquisitive nature by providing activities that are

age-specific.

At Joyful Care Children's Academy, we have 2 Toddler programs; one for the younger toddlers and one for our older toddlers, with the younger children having a lower teacher-to-student ratio.

Class Ratio: Young Todd's class ratio is 1 teacher to every 4 students.

Class Ratio: Early Preschool class ratio 1 teacher to every 8 toddlers

Curriculum: Learn Every Day: The Program for Toddlers

Learn Every Day: The Program for Toddlers is developed around the latest scientific early brain development research.

It is a year-round program that focuses on enhancing the simple joy of childhood while equipping caregivers to nurture curiosity through exploration.

The curriculum is organized around five developmental domains (Language Development, Cognitive Development, Physical Development, Social Development, and Emotional Development.)
